The iguanas, which are invasive to Miami Beach, have been rapidly expanding in population and causing damage, leading officials to suggest payments for hunters who kill the creatures. “Something more needs to be done,” Barbara Benis, a resident who had to rebuild her sea wall after iguanas destroyed it, told Miami’s Local 10 News. Green iguanas are invasive in Miami, having originally come from South and Central America. It is thought that the populations in Florida arrived via boats carrying shipments of fruit, with the pet trade then causing a population boom....

The child was admitted to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego last Wednesday after waking up and “violently shaking” before falling to the ground. He suddenly developed the symptoms having previously tested positive for COVID in early February. The child’s parents, Brielle and Devon, also contracted the disease last month but said their son, Kawhi, appeared to be asymptomatic. After being admitted into hospital, medical staff determined Kawhi had pneumonia and MIS-C, a condition officially known as Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children....

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) was alerted to reports of a shooting at a home in Bear Creek Apartments in the 5500 block of Timber Creek Place at about 3 p.m. on Monday. According to the Gun Violence Archive, a database that collects information about shootings from across the U.S., 28 people have been shot dead in Houston since October 1 this year. The database also said that seven children aged between 0 and 11 have been fatally shot in Houston since January 1 this year....

The accident occurred around 7 p.m. at the Residence Inn near Freedom Way and Thrive Drive in Roseville, California. The child was taken to a hospital with critical injuries. His current condition is not known. Roseville Police say the circumstances of the fall are being investigated but do not believe foul play was involved, nor do they believe the child was pushed or thrown from the window. Newsweek has contacted the Roseville Police Department and the Residence Inn for comment....
