In the ninth inning of Friday’s Tigers-Blue Jays game in Toronto, a fan dumped “what is believed to be cremated remains onto field level, near the Jays’ dugout,” according to the Toronto Star. If the idea was for the ashes to spend eternity with the Jays, well, that’s not going to happen. A hazardous materials team collected them shortly after the game ended....

The rescue occurred on Wednesday as temperatures in the area exceeded 100 degrees, according to agents with the Border Patrol’s Laredo South Station. “Today, this new technology saved a life,” Deputy Chief Patrol Agent Carl Landrum said in a news release announcing the successful rescue. “The U.S. Border Patrol will always prioritize human life.” Border agents said the individual was a male but did not provide other identifying information. CBP’s Laredo Sector Chief Agent Matthew Hudak told Newsweek that expansion of the sector has created the need to enlarge the workforce beyond the capacity of CBP facilities for training.
