This week’s “Monday Night Football” contest figures to deliver on the hype. In a showdown between Super Bowl hopefuls, the Bengals will host the Bills in the final “Monday Night Football” game of the year.

By all metrics, this is a matchup of two of the best teams in the league. According to weighted defense-adjusted value over average (DVOA), the Bills are the second-best team in the league and the Bengals rank fourth. ProFootballFocus has Cincinnati as the sixth-best team and the Bills ninth. Pro Football Reference’s SRS has the Bills as the league’s best and the Bengals at fifth.

The battle between Buffalo and Cincinnati has plenty of stakes for the remainder of the season. The Bills still control the No. 1 seed in the AFC and the Bengals sit in third. Should Buffalo win out, the Bills would stay ahead of the Chiefs for the top seed. But if Cincinnati wins, it would need only a win against the Ravens and a Kansas City loss to the Raiders in Week 18 to take home-field advantage in the AFC.
