After allowing a walk to the Rays’ Brad Miller, Hutchison dug in for the first pitch to Steven Souza Jr. His pitch was on the money but Jimenez’s attempt to toss out Miller at second was not. The catcher’s throw was low and nailed the unsuspecting Hutchison in the back of the head as he squatted and turned to watch the potential play at second base.

Hutchison was quickly attended to by team officials but was able to leave the field under his own power.
