Blue Jays Sign J.A. Happ To Three Year 36 Million Contract

The Blue Jays announced Friday night that they signed the left-hander to a three-year, $36 million contract. He made $6.7 million last season.

It’s the 33-year-old Happ’s second tour of duty in Toronto. He compiled a 19-20 mark in 58 starts with Toronto between 2012 and 2014.

Happ has a 62-61 record and 4.13 ERA in nine major league seasons, including stints with the Phillies, Astros and Mariners.

But Happ looked especially sharp after the Pirates acquired him from the Mariners before the trade deadline in July. In 11 starts with the Bucs, he went 7-2, with a 1.85 ERA and 1.02 WHIP.
