The former Louisville, Arkansas and Western Kentucky coach has been hired by FCS program Missouri State, the school announced Wednesday. It will be his fourth job at a different program since 2011.
Petrino has a history of fielding high-octane offenses, and has enjoyed varying degrees of success in each of his previous collegiate stops. He led Louisville to a 41-9 record from 2003 to 2006, Arkansas to a 34-17 record from 2008 to 2011, Western Kentucky to an 8-4 record in 2013 and Louisville (again) to a 36-26 record from 2014 to 2018.

That said, Petrino brings a fair amount of controversy with him.
He left his first stint in Louisville after four years, signing a five-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons, whom he coached for 13 games before jumping ship to Arkansas. While he elevated the Razorbacks to two double-digit win seasons and major bowl berths, he was fired in April 2012 after a motorcycle accident revealed he misled Arkansas officials about an extramarital affair he had with an athletic employee.
Petrino was out of coaching in 2012 before returning to Western Kentucky for a season. He then returned to Louisville in 2014. He saw moderate success in his second stint there, but failed to win more than nine games in a season — even with Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Lamar Jackson.
