Thursday against the Padres, the ‘pen blew a 4-1 lead in the eighth inning en route to a 6-4 loss in 11 innings.

The loss marked the eighth time this season the Braves have lost a game when leading after the sixth inning — one more than during all of last season.

Entering Friday’s game against the Mets, the Braves’ bullpen had a 5.10 ERA in June and a majors-worst 4.75 ERA on the season.

As a whole, the Braves’ staff had a majors-worst .278 opponents’ average allowed in close-and-late situations entering Friday, along with 14 homers surrendered in those situations, also worst in MLB.

Despite all the blown saves, the Braves were just 2 1/2 games out of first place in the NL East entering Friday.
