The home run capped a 3-for-4, two-RBI night for Bethancourt, who has struggled mightily at the plate this season in a part-time role but is seen by many as the team’s catcher of the future.
Bethancourt’s three hits raised his average to .205 on the season. His home run shifted the focus off another blown lead from the Braves bullpen and provided a happy ending on what could’ve been another frustrating night for the team.
