Braves pitcher Matt Marksberry was admitted to a Florida hospital Wednesday, a team official confirmed to MLB.com.
The team said Marksberry is being treated for severe dehydration, but won’t comment any further due to HIPAA laws. Marksberry’s brother, Ethan, posted to Facebook and wrote, “Just got a phone call from my mom, [found] out my brother is on life support and you are stuck in the wrong part of the country.”

People commented on the status asking if it was real, and he responded, “Why would … I lie about this?”
Earlier this week, Marksberry tweeted about his health and asked for prayers.
The status of Marksberry’s health is in question due to other reports. While his brother claims his sibling is on life support, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports, citing sources, that he is not.
Other reports indicated Wednesday that Marksberry’s vital signs were good.
Marksberry, 26, spent most of the season in Triple-A, but did pitch 3 1/3 innings for Atlanta this season. He was later placed on the disabled list with rotator cuff inflammation. Earlier this month he was sent outright to the team’s Double-A affiliate.
