Pharoah drilled six furlongs in 1:10.80, according to private clocker Gary Young. The Daily Racing Form’s Jay Privman says Pharoah started five lengths back of his workmate and finished eight ahead. The $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic is set for Saturday, Oct. 31 at Keeneland Racecourse in Lexington, Ky.

“This was the last serious drill of his life,” trainer Bob Baffert told reporters at Santa Anita. “It’s sort of sad in a way to think that’s the last time we get to see him work like that. Just to watch him breeze, sometimes I get a bit excited, the way he does things so easily.”
Pharoah’s connections (and objective observers) were impressed.
American Pharoah is expected to have a light work Monday. The colt will ship then to Lexington on Tuesday for the Breeders’ Cup, since all entrants are required to be on race grounds by Wednesday.

The 2015 Breeders’ Cup will feature four races Friday afternoon, then nine on Saturday, concluding with the Classic. Pharoah is expected to be the favorite in that race, his third since capturing the first Triple Crown since 1978.
Pharoah cruised in the Haskell Invitational, then lost in the Travers Stakes to Keen Ice, who is also expected to run in the Classic.
