Peralta threw 13 strikeouts and allowed just one hit in 5 2/3 innings. The rookie had a no-hitter going through 5 1/3 innings and was pulled after recording his 13th strikeout and 98th pitch of the night.
That performance broke the Brewers’ record for strikeouts by a rookie pitcher but also etched his name into MLB history.

Part of what made Peralta’s night so impressive was that he struck out Nolan Arenado, Charlie Blackmon and D.J. LeMahieu a combined seven times.
There’s more that made this a debut to remember, though.
Peralta’s parents traveled from the Dominican Republic with the intention of seeing their son pitch for the first time as a pro with the team’s Triple-A affiliate Sky Sox, coincidentally located in Colorado Springs.
Instead they were able to see him pitch his MLB debut at Coors Field — and on Mother’s Day, no less.
After the game, Peralta gave the ball from his 13th K to his mom, for what was sure to be as memorable a debut as they come.
