Phil Mickelson was the 36-hole leader of this year’s Open Championship following a wet, windy Friday in which he shot a 2-under 69. Success on what should be a much drier Saturday will put him in position to win a second Claret Jug.

His lead is only a stroke, though, thanks to Henrik Stenson’s 65 in Round 2.

Tied for third at 7 under were Soren Kjeldsen and Mickelson’s Ryder Cup playing partner Keegan Bradley.

UPDATE: Stenson caught and passed Mickelson. At 12 under, he will start Saturday a stroke ahead of Mickelson as he seeks his first major championship.

Forget about Rory McIlroy. He had a meltdown on Saturday.
