If approved by the Senate, broadcasts to Afghanistan could begin within weeks. Officials have stepped up security around the RFE headquarters, located in Prague on Wenceslas Square. Concrete barriers have been erected, and armed personnel carriers stand guard outside. American and Czech officials have even discussed moving the RFE to a safer location. In the United States last week, Prime Minister Milos Zeman said that hijacker Mohamed Atta had once met with an Iraqi agent in Prague to plan an attack on RFE. Defense Minister Jaroslav Tvrdik said the building was “in one of the worst places in Prague.”
