Ball was the starter entering the 2014 season but because of injuries and a lowly 3.12 yards per carry, he lost the job to Pro Bowl back C.J. Anderson.

With new offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak’s one-cut zone running scheme, Ball may not be a favorite to start the season No. 1 on the depth chart as Anderson’s speed and vision make him a better fit.

Ball has just one touchdown and 172 yards on 55 carries after the Broncos’ first four games. As a backup to Knowshon Moreno in 2013, Ball had four touchdowns and 559 yards.
