Marchand did not draw a penalty, but the slew foot got the attention of the NHL’s Department of Player Safety. Marchand had a phone hearing with the department on Friday afternoon. Video of incident is below.
Marchand is no stranger to disciplinary action for foul play. He was fined $2,500 last season for a slew foot on then-Penguins defenseman Matt Niskanen. He was also suspended five games in 2012 for a low hit on Canucks defenseman Sami Salo.
