Bruins assistant coach Doug Houda played 561 games over his NHL career, and while he got hit in the face from time to time, he was usually prepared to take a beating. On Wednesday night, a puck went flying into the Boston bench and cracked Houda in the skull, forcing him to go to the locker room to get staples put in his skull.

But Houda’s a hockey player at heart, so he got stapled up and returned to the bench.
