The 22-year-old outfielder — remember, he’s still only 22 — hit three home runs in his first three at-bats. It’s easy to forget just how young (and insanely talented) Harper is because of how long he’s been around and the bumps he’s faced along the way. Wednesday was a good reminder of that.
Harper came up again in the seventh and grounded out to second in his fourth at-bat of the game. The Marlins almost took the lead in the top of the ninth, which could have given Harper another chance, but Drew Storen struck out Giancarlo Stanton and Marcell Ozuna with two on to end the game.
Sixteen players have hit four home runs in a game. Josh Hamilton did it last in 2012.

The third, another mammoth shot, off Koehler, in the fifth.
Harper gave the crowd a curtain call following his third long ball. It would be the last of his heroics for the afternoon, but remember — the man is still only 22 years old. He’s got plenty more of this in him.
