Weird, right? Well, Bubba Watson’s drive on the par-5 fifth hole at the PGA Championship found its way onto an ant hill.

But because ants are not considered burrowing animals, as in gophers and groundhogs, Watson was not allowed to take a drop. The exchange with the rules official was rather entertaining.
“Wait. So even though they dig in the ground they’re not considered burrowing?” Golf sure is a fun sport, isn’t it? But after realizing his efforts were futile, Watson took his swing, but not before cracking a joke.
Watson has known to get hostile on the course from time to time, but we think he has a legitimate case here. Ants are awful.
Watson’s evenful day ended at 4 under, including a birdie on No. 18 off this approach shot.
