The league cited both “continuing weather-related difficulties in the Greater Buffalo area and out of respect for the fans of the Sabres.” A Buffalo-Kent State game has already been rescheduled.

The NHL can simply reschedule Sabres-Rangers for later in the season; the NFL doesn’t have that luxury. The backup plan could be playing Monday in Pittsburgh or Detroit, according to the Buffalo News.
