Indianapolis Star columnist Gregg Doyel tweeted the news following the Bulldogs’ Big East victory over Georgetown on Tuesday night.

Doyel later reported that Kampen spoke with the team at halftime via video link:
The news comes three weeks after Andrew Smith, a four-year teammate of Kampen’s at Butler, died of cancer. Kampen in January donated bone marrow to a patient suffering from non-Hodgkin lymphoma, the same cancer that initially afflicted Smith.
