Maria Hoff Barcelos moved to Lisbon last month, from Brazil, and claimed her street sees a lot of weird and wonderful goings-on.

The 25-year-old shared a clip to her TikTok account, @mariadasnoia, as she filmed out the window of her apartment, giving her an eagle eye view of the street below.

“I swear every night there is something absurd happening,” she captioned the video, viewed more than one million times. And the opening sentence of her on-screen caption says: “So I moved to Lisbon two days ago and my street is absolute drama.”

The clip, which can be seen here, shows Portugal’s iconic yellow tram at a standstill in the middle of the street, with a line of cars behind it. While presumably passengers were waiting inside as well.

There are cars parked along one side, and a dark vehicle has been awkwardly angled with the front bumper protruding into the tram’s path.

Although there’s plenty of space to drive around the vehicle, as the locomotive moves along the track it’s essentially stuck.

Narrating the events, the on-screen text reads: “The tram could not get through because of a car parked improperly. They broke into the car and ended up lifting it.”

A group of four men gather round the car, as three of them rock the vehicle as they maneuver it over, allowing enough space for the tram to pass.

“What the? Get it guys. Lol,” Barcelos adds onto the video. Finally the tram—and queue of traffic—can pass, and it seems the incident drew quite a crowd from the surrounding buildings.

She added: “The whole neighborhood was cheering on the balconies. That was it for today’s drama.”

Commenting on the clip, shared last month, Mimi Missy reckoned: “Why do I have a feeling the car owner was cheering from a balcony too?”

To which Barcelos replied: “Honestly that would probably be his best option to avoid furious people.”

Wack joked: “And now you understand why our old ladies are always at the window.”

Rafaela Carina wrote: “As a Portuguese, I totally live for these incidents.”

“I used to ride that exact tram everyday and can confirm that that happens sooo many times,” Tats added.

Daniel Breia joked: “As a Portuguese this isn’t dama this is a normal day in Lisbon.”

Newsweek reached out to Barcelos for comment.
