The Jets linebacker has been sidelined since Week 1 with a groin injury, but told reporters after Thursday’s practice that he will play this week.
The Jets need all the reinforcements they can get — they had a rough start to the season by losing Sam Darnold to mono, then losing the first four games of the year. However, Darnold came back in Week 6 to help New York upset Dallas, 24-22.
Jets coach Adam Gase was less sure about Mosley’s status, saying the plan was to see how he fared at practice Thursday.
“We’re taking it day-by-day right now, that’s the best I can give you,” Gase said before practice. “I hope that’s the case.”
A boost on defense from Mosley will give the team added confidence and defensive security in needs. In Week 1 against the Bills, he had six tackles, two pass deflections, one fumble recovery and an interception that he took back for a touchdown.
