Some are suggesting that family drama could be at play while others think she is simply taking a break from social media to enjoy her honeymoon. Britney Spears spoke negatively of the nature of her conservatorship and pleaded her case to have it removed. Jamie Spears has had control over her life, finances and health decision since her public breakdown in 2007. Leaked court documents seen by The New York Times this week showed the singer has been trying to end her father’s control over her life and finances for more than a decade. The 39-year-old has now explained it all to a judge in her own words, in 24 minutes, in her most public statement on her situation to date....

Spears, after a somewhat tumultuous relationship with Instagram, delivered a hot take in a post on Thursday. She posted a text image to her feed that read, “God is not nice,” and wrote in the caption, “Does that mean the devil is EXTREMELY HOT AND NICE???” adding a few emojis including the purple devil emoji and a cry-laughing emoji. The 40-year-old pop star then added, “I’d rather hang out with homeless people than the people in Hollywood…JUST SAYING!...

Griner’s fiancée, Glory Johnson, was also arrested on the same charges. Griner and Johnson, a forward for the Tulsa Shock, were released early Thursday morning, according to reports. Griner, a 6-8 center from Baylor who was the top overall pick in in the 2013 WNBA Draft by the Phoenix Mercury, is averaging 14.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in her first two seasons in the league.

The group also called on U.S. lawmakers to use her ordeal as motivation to change domestic cannabis laws. President Joe Biden said during a Thursday morning announcement at the White House that Griner will be returning home. Biden was joined by Griner’s wife, Cherelle Griner, when he shared the news that the star athlete was on a plane headed back to the United States following a prisoner exchange involving Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout....

The American professional basketball player was sentenced to nine years in prison Thursday in Russia after being found guilty of drug smuggling with criminal intent. “Brittney Griner is sadly learning the hard way that life is different when you leave U.S. borders,” Andrew M. Lieb, Attorney at Lieb at Law told Newsweek. Griner, who also was fined one million rubles (a little more than $16,000), is expected to serve her sentence in a forced labor colony....

The newly minted head coach in Denver spent Thursday afternoon in the hospital getting treatment for a kidney stone but will still coach in the Hall of Fame Game, a team spokesman said. The aggressive female bear was being monitored in Sweden to understand how bears use their landscape. Brown bears are found several parts of Europe and a survey in 2004 put their numbers in Sweden between 1,635 and 2,840. The study, published in the journal Diversity, found that when bears emerge from hibernation, they embark on an “active hunting strategy” to take full advantage of the reindeer and moose calving periods....
