On Friday, BLM members demonstrated outside Mayor Garcetti’s official residence for the fourth day running in a bid to dissuade Biden from appointing him to a top position. Garcetti was co-chair of the Biden-Harris campaign and is said to be in the frame for the post of either secretary of transportation or housing and urban development. But BLM protesters have criticized his housing record and said that he has not followed through on transportation projects....

Shane Lee Brown, a Black man, is now suing the police and city of Henderson for misidentifying him as Shane Neal Brown, an older white man whom the warrant was actually for, according to a lawsuit. Shane Lee Brown was pulled over by Henderson police on January 8, 2020, but he did not have his identification with him, KLAS-TV reported. The lawsuit said he gave police his name, Social Security number and card, but when police performed a record check for “Shane Brown,” they discovered a felony warrant....

Back in 2015, Tyson was repeatedly punched and assaulted by David Clarence Dawkins as the assailant used the “N” word multiple times. The incident took place when Tyson came to B.S. & Co., a bar in Wolverine that was operated by Unthank LLC. The assault initially left Tyson unconscious and he suffered brain damage. Although Dawkins was convicted of aggravated assault, Tyson wanted to sue the bar as the staff failed to call the police to intervene....

Speculation about Francis’ future has grown after the Vatican announced earlier this month that he would not be going on a planned trip to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan in July. The Vatican cited Francis’ knee ailment, which has forced the 85-year-old to use a wheelchair for at least a month. Meanwhile, plans to visit the Italian city of L’Aquila in August for a feast have been viewed as an effort to cement his legacy, adding fuel to speculation that Francis could soon follow in Pope Benedict XVI’s footsteps and step down from leading the Catholic Church....
